The year-2024 unofficial-LDS version of “Amazing Grace<\/a>” has seven verses, with #5 and #7 being traditional:<\/p>\n

As of at least June 1, 2025, this version of “Amazing Grace” has not been promoted or accepted for publication by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at least not yet. Some of the lyrics, however, were chosen with that church in mind. Verse #3 is:<\/p>\n

Amazing grace! The Savior\u2019s hand
\nCould save someone like me!
\nI once would sink but now I stand,
\nWas blind but now I see.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Notice that the third verse refers directly to Jesus Christ on the first line. This is in keeping with the spirit of the message of the Prophet Russell M. Nelson, who has encouraged people around the world to mention the Savior whenever they talk about the atonement. Some verses of “Amazing Grace” were changed by Jonathan D. Whitcomb, an LDS member, to help people better remember Christ when they sing about his grace and listen to this new version of the third verse.<\/p>\n

Old version of Amazing Grace<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

This is one traditional version of the old Christian hymn, with three verses. It is the one used by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at least as of June of 2025.<\/p>\n

New hymns for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

These sacrament hymns include “Bread of Life, Living Water”, “Gethsemane” and “Now in the Garden”.<\/p>\n

11 New LDS Hymns in mid-2025<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

These include “His Voice as the Sound”, “Look Unto Christ”, “The Lord’s my Shepherd”, and “I’m a Pioneer Too”. As of early July, 2025, these hymns are available in at least the following languages: English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish. Other languages will later be added.<\/p>\n
